Hurricane, schmurricane! Dunedin Brewery’s Oktobeerfest is here!

Damn skippy! It starts tonight and runs through Sunday, and once again it is a funk-filled affair you don’t want to miss (especially getting your commemorative Literstein, good for a year of discounted beer fill-ups!).

THURSDAY, OKTOBER 6  Literstein Heritage Night

7:00  Literstein release

8:00  DeadPhish Orchestra

The Brewery reached out to Boulder CO to grab DeadPhish Orchestra, and you can probably figure out just what they play — and they do it very, very well! DeadPhish Orchestra are: Chris Sheldon, drums, vocals; Paul Murin, guitar, vocals; Brian Adams, bass, vocals; and Ted Tilton, keyboards, vocals.

FRIDAY, OKTOBER 7  Street Party

5:30  DJ 45Revolver

7:30  Ceremonial Keg-tapping

8:00  Joe Marcinek Band Tribute to Bernie Worrell & P-Funk

11:00  Tropidelic

DJ 45Revolver goes exactly what the name implies: he spins nothing but awesome vintage 45s from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. You’ve never seen a DJ work this hard, and it is THE BOMB.

And speaking of THE BOMB, the Joe Marcinek Band wants to get you good and funked up. Marcinek, from Indiana, has planned a tribute to the late great Bernie Worrell and P-Funk; Marcinek played with Worrell often in the past few years. This edition of the band features another regular collaborator, Steve Molitz, the keyboard wizard behind Particle. Freekbass, like Marcinek a frequent visitor to the brewery (and he played last year’s Oktobeerfest), will be there, joined by Pete Koopmans (Family Groove Ensemble) on drums. Special guest for this set will be Juanjamon playing tenor saxophone!

Closing out the night will be a band from the East side — of Cleveland, that is! Tropidelic will smother you in funk, reggae, rock and hip-hop!

SATURDAY, OKTOBER 8  Street Gathering

8:00  Joe Marcinek Band

11:00  Holey Miss Moley

Marcinek gets the revved up for round two, followed by Holey Miss Moley, a brilliant collective from all over Florida (and Muncie IN). This amazing band has been tearing it up at every festival and show they hit. They had a great hip-hop set at Great Outdoors Jam and have played a full P-Funk set twice. They will continue to work at tearing the roof off the sucker!

SUNDAY, OKTOBER 9  Decompression

7:00  The Galbraith Group

9:00  Trae Pierce & the T-Stones

The Galbraith Group is a remarkable family affair with Josh Galbraith, guitar; Ashley Galbraith, bass; and Taylor Galbraith. each of them is an excellent player. Recently they have added Kid Royal to the band on lead vocals and guitar. Blues, jazz, funk and more come roaring out from this fine quartet.

On the off-chance that the roof is still intact, it will definitely NOT be after Trae Pierce and the T-Stones are finished. This outrageous funk juggernaut centers around acknowledged bass master Trae Pierce, but his band stays right with him. It’s a full-frontal party when Pierce starts rolling. Get off your A$$ and jam!
