The Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Wintour 2016 takes flight today (January 22) on a run that will cover 30 shows, 27 venues, and 16 states over the space of 11 weeks. Then the Pigeons get ready for Domefest, their festival in Bedford PA at the end of May. That’s a LOT of miles as the Pigeon flies.
They hit Funk ’N Waffles in Syracuse tonight, then head to Grizzly’s in Stratton VT. From there, the tour moves to North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Maryland. After a southern flight to Georgia and Florida (AURA Music & Arts Festival!), they head to the Midwest and out to Colorado for eight dates before heading back east again.
Of note on the tour are the two shows with moe. at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore (February 26-27) and the February 4th show at the Fillmore Philadelphia with The Disco Biscuits. PPPP will also join forces along the way with The Main Squeeze, Aqueous and The Fritz.
The Baltimore quartet plays “high-energy psychedelic funk,” but that barely begins to describe their outrageous stage performance. Their over-the-top stage antics are matched by their superb musical chops. PPPP are: Scrambled Greg Ormont – vocals, guitar; Jeremy Schon – guitar, vocals; Ben Carrey – bassics, vocals; Alex Petropulos – drums, electronics; and Manny Moonbeams – flashy lights.
The initial artist lineup for Domefest (May 19-21) was recently released, with Big Something, Splintered Sunlight (Dead tribute), Aqueous, ELM, Broccoli Samurai, Especial, Mister F, Shwizz, and Litz, with many more bands and artists to be announced.
