Pretty Lights Music alum Michal Menert has a five-night Florida run scheduled February 2 – 6 with his new live band. The sextet called Michal Menert & The Pretty Fantastics will play Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando, finally performing at the B.e. Easy Music and Arts Festival. Michal Menert & The Pretty Fantastics feature live horns, keys, guitar, bass, and drums and Menert’s own sonic production. Jacksonville’s producer-duo MZG will offer support on the first four nights.

Menert had a band but came to prominence when he collaborated with
Derek Vincent Smith on the first Pretty Lights album, Taking Up Your Precious Time. He produced the album and contributed several tracks. Menert and Smith went their separate ways in 2010, and Menert recorded under his own name; his first solo album was Dreaming of a Bigger Life. His most recent album, Space Jazz, was released in April, and he produces for his own record label, Super Best Records.
