Future Vintage is inviting you to the release party for their first full-length album, Doin It Right, on Friday, December 11th, at the Ringside Cafe in St. Petersburg. Future Vintage is an excellent funk/electronic dance trio featuring Matt Giancola, keyboards/samples/talkbox/vocoder; Trevor McDannel, bass/synth bass; and Eric Layana, acoustic & electronic drums.
Giancola and McDannel have been with the band since its inception. After working with several great drummers, they have now settled in with Layana, whose drive and time are letter-perfect for the band’s sound. Layana also plays with the excellent reggae funk band Currentz.
The album release party also features superb funk from The Juanjamon Band. Giancola and McDannel are members of the band led by Meesta Juanjamon (tenor saxophone, lyrics, bass, vocals), Dre Mack (guitar), and Michael Garrie. You don’t want to miss a single note.
Speaking of notes, Giancola, Juanjamon and I will be sitting in on In the Groove Tuesday night from 10 to midnight with Thor on WMNF 88.5, where we will debut the album. And I will be sneak-previewing several tracks Sunday on The Colors of Jazz from 6 to 9 with Thomas Dickens, also on WMNF. You can listen live or online, or you can listen later on the station’s archive feature.
The Future Vintage boys are Doin It Right! Look for a full album review soon! And you can read MusicFestNew’s On the Rise feature here.
Listen to their first EP while we wait for Friday!
