Pigeons Playing Ping Pong are excited to remind you that Domefest is this weekend, May 28-30, at Trip’s Farm in Terra Alta, WV. The band is playing all three nights, including a special “Under Cover” set on Friday night. Advance tickets are still available at www.missiontix.com/domefest for only $60, but that ends today, Tues May 26th, at 11:59 pm. Then tickets will be available at the gate all weekend (cash only).
The Pigeons have brought a ton of their friends to join them, including Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band, the Heavy Pets, and the Mantras. Big Something will be there, too, and PPPP returns the favor by playing The Big What? June 25-27.
That’s enough funk to blanket the entire state of West Virginia. And we’re just getting warmed up!
There’s more funk and progressive rock from Sweet Earth, an instrumental power trio from Colorado; more funk from Litz and DC’s Moogatu; and funk, rock and everything else courtesy of the Jauntee. Viral Sound brings you electro funk out of Rhode Island, while ShwizZ funks you up from NY.
Jamtronic fans rejoice: Imperial Blend from Greensboro and Broccoli Samurai from OH will hook you up! Mister F’s music is “neat and clean, hard and dangerous.” Your call. And Baltimore’s Deaf Scene will stand you on your head with their “spaced-out sonic experimentation.”
Maybe you need two guys who play tenor sax, bass trombone, beat boxes and “little boxes” (??). That would be The Hornitz. And looper Mateo Monk brings his sound from the reggae tradition, playing guitar and flute and singing.
McLovins’ bouncy funk hails from CT, while much closer to Terra Alta Fletcher’s Grove brings that Appalachian jam rock. Add to that groovy rock with soaring harmonies from Aqueous, and for something completely different check out Bats Dynamic String Band, delivering folk, bluegrass and acoustic music in large doses.
Your calendar was empty. Now it’s jam-packed! See you in West Virginia!
