Skerik Band Does West Coast, Then He Heads to Brooklyn Comes Alive

The one and only Skerik (we checked — there’s only one) has put together a five-date run on the West Coast starting Wednesday, September 6th, in Seattle. This band features Andy Coe (guitar), Damian Erskine (bass), and Tarik Abouzied (drums). The first night of the run will also feature Banda Magda. And the Boom Boom Room show (September 8th) will be insane, as Skerik is joined by regular compatriot Mike Dillon and his band. The Skerik Band will also headline the Cosmic Family Gathering along with The Mike Dillon Band (how is not the greatest festival ever?).

Skerik’s overflowing resume includes Critters Buggin’, The Dead Kenny Gs, Garage A Trois, Skerik’s Syncopated Taint Septet, Bandalabera, Tuatara, Crack Sabbath, McTuff, and work with Les Claypool, Stanton Moore, Bobby Private and many more. He has performed on more than five dozen recordings and is in great demand as the Dark Lord of the Saxophone.

His primary work is on tenor saxophone, but he also plays baritone and uses electronics and loops very effectively. He has played silent disco sets with Freekbass, played Earth, Wind and Power sets with The Nth Power, mesmerized Bear Creek with an amazing sax and electronics tour de force, and smiled that smile every time.

OK, not exactly a smile

He will take part in the astounding Brooklyn Comes Alive lineup, first with George Porter, Jr., and Mike Dillon on Saturday, September 23rd, then with Reed Mathis, Alan Evans, Will Blades and Will Bernard on Sunday.

Time to come over to the Dark Side.
