This weekend you have the opportunity to spend it in an incredibly intimate setting, in one of the most beautiful places on the planet, with magical friends and family, all while hearing some amazing music.

Southern Soul BBQ and Purple Hat Productions are thrilled to invite you to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak FL for a wonderful two days this Friday and Saturday, January 13th and 14th. The Music Hall will be warm, the food will be tasty, the beverages will be cold, and the music will be blazing.

We mentioned this recently, and you can read in-depth discussions of the bands involved here (and about the Lettuce tour here), but let’s refresh your memory. Lettuce, The Lee Boys, Troy Youngblood & the Soulfish, The Galbraith Group and Jaw Gems will be performing. Here is a quick run-down with some more video evidence!

Lettuce are the NYC funksters at the top of the funk/jam world. Lettuce are: Adam (Shmeeans) Smirnoff, guitar; Adam Deitch, drums; Erick (Jesus) Coomes, bass; Ryan Zoidis, alto, tenor and baritone saxes; Eric Krasno,  guitar; Neal Evans, organ, keyboards; and Eric Bloom, trumpet. You are about to get funked up!

There is no finer sacred steel band on the planet than The Lee Boys. This band is heaven-sent for sure! The Lee Boys are: Alvin Lee, lead guitar; Keith Lee, vocals; Derrick Lee, vocals; Kenneth Earl Walker, drums; Alvin Cordy, bass guitar; and Chris Johnson, pedal steel.

Once you hear Troy Youngblood & the Soulfish, it is a guarantee you’ll never forget their deep-down, whiskey-soaked rootsy blues. They are: Bob Feckner, trumpet and flugelhorn; George Pennington III, guitar; Dennis Stadelman, guitar and vocals; Chris Brown, bass; Al, keyboards and harmonica; Reggie Scott, drums; and Troy Youngblood, guitar and vocals.

The Galbraith Group are family. Really. And you’ve probably never seen a rhythm section anymore more badass than these ladies! The Galbraiths are: Josh Galbraith, Guitar; Ashley Galbraith, bass; and Taylor Galbraith, drums.

JAW GEMS are just coming into the national conversation on their tour with Lettuce. This should be a “drip hop / ratchet jazz” blast!

Funkify your soul! Get to Live Oak this weekend!
