Corbitt-Clampitt Experience & Heather Gillis Band Pair Up

Two great musical forces are joining together for two very special nights. The Corbitt-Clampitt Experience and the Heather Gillis Band plan to rave it up at the Liberty Bar in Tallahassee on Thursday, May 12th. The next night, they move to the 1904 Music Hall in Jacksonville for more fun and shenanigans.

The Corbitt-Clampitt Experience combines two of Jacksonville’s driving musical powerhouses in one excellent band. Isaac Corbitt and Brandon Buck played in the Corbitt Brothers Band. Recently, Isaac’s brother Newsome launched his solo career. Isaac is, in the minds of many, the premier harp player on the scene today — the national scene. And Buck is a monster drummer.

Meanwhile, guitarist Brady Clampitt was a rising star both in studio sessions and on stage. They added Jake Alessandrini on bass, and the result has been pure delight. Isaac and Brady both sing, and the band delivers blues, soul, Southern rock, and a whole lot of funk. MusicFestNews was thrilled to check them out at Roosevelt Collier’s Suwannee Getdown in February.

Guitarist Heather Gillis first came to our attention when she joined Col. Bruce Hampton (Ret.) on stage both days at the Magnolia Festival last October. Next, she appeared with her fine band, and in short order she became a member of Butch Trucks’ Freight Train Band.

Heather’s quartet includes Gerald Watkins on drums, Nyan Feder on tenor saxophone, and Kyle Chervanik on bass guitar. Heather is a fine singer-songwriter in addition to her great skills on guitar and lap steel. The 21-year-old FSU student has played with many of the jam scene’s greats, including the Lee Boys, The Word, and Matt Schofield.

These are two nights you don’t want to miss. Both bands are also heading to the Orange Blossom Jamboree. Also check out their separate upcoming tour dates, the Corbitt-Clampitt Experience official website, and the Heather Gillis official website.

Also on the bill for Friday, May 13th, is Bonnie Blue, and excellent proponent of blues and rock with a Southern twist. They too are regulars on the Florida scene: Bradley Churchman, guitar, vocals; Willis Gore, guitar, vocals; John Wilson, keyboards, vocals; Adam Kenneway, bass; and  Jeremy Mayr, drums. Their addition makes this a terrific triple bill!

And a shout-out to Jimmy Rector, who designed this outstanding poster!
