Who the heck is Joe Marcinek, and why is he playing at the Dunedin Brewery?

posterWho the heck is Joe Marcinek, and why is he playing at the Dunedin Brewery Thursday night (October 8th)?

Inquiring minds wanted to know. Specifically, mine. So I got educated. Did I ever!

Turns out, Joe Marcinek is a magnet. He attracts incredible musicians from across the country to play with him. His website notes: “JMB is an ever-evolving mixture of original compositions and incredible musicians. Each show has a slightly different lineup and interpretation.” And Marcinek plays keys for Terrapin Flyer and guitar for Fresh Hops.with bernie

Possibly the understatement of the century. Consider the following list, just a sample of musicians who have proudly called themselves members of the Joe Marcinek Band at one time or another (or a bunch of times): Mike Greenfield, Steve Molitz, Natalie Cressman, Jennifer Hartswick, Dr. Bernie Worrell, Joey Porter, Freekbass, Allie Kral and Fareed Haque. YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS! Except that, obviously, he is, and he has a knack for compiling legendary bands, for one show or a series.

OK, so we know who Joe Marcinek is. But why Dunedin? He and Amanda Noa are heading south from Indiana to celebrate Amanda’s birthday in the Sunshine State and jump on a cruise!

With that in mind, let’s examine the superb band he has attracted to join him for the 8 PM show at Dunedin Brewery:

Dani Jaye, fiddle, guitar; Come Back Alice

Juanjamon, bass, tenor sax, EWI, keyboards; Juanjamon Band, CopE

Matt Giancola, keyboards, synthesizers; Future Vintage, Juanjamon Band

Rob Sanger, bass; Serotonic

Michael Garrie, drums; Juanjamon Band, CopE

I may have neglected to mention the secret weapon on guitar, Marcinek’s Indiana connection, Russ Bowers.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a band! Florida royalty all.

See you there with your litersteins. And it’s not too early for you to mark your calendars for a couple more outstanding shows coming to DB:
