Staging a Six-Ring Circus at the Ringside Café in St. Petersburg

There is no better place to stage a Battle Royal than in the squared circle. They want you believe it is a Six-Ring Circus. You can decide for yourself Saturday (Sept. 19), as six of the area’s heavy hitters square off at the Ringside Café in St. Petersburg for a full day of music and fun. Just who are they?

Displace is pulling a double shift Saturday, also performing at Earthdance Florida at the Maddox Ranch in Lakeland. Their funk-fusion overload has been killing it at every event they hit, from The Great Outdoors Jam and Reunion: Campout Concert Series to their triumphant Umphrey’s McGee afterparty with Roosevelt Collier. And they will be playing Hulaween at the String Cheese Incident Hallowe’en monster party at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park!

Holey Miss Moley is also doing double duty with an early Earthdance Florida set. This excellent funk/soul/rock band now features two great vocalists in Danny Clemmons and Robyn Alleman in addition to their outstanding instrumental lineup. They had a transcendent Great Outdoors Jam set and truly impressed at Roosevelt Collier’s Suwannee Getdown. They too are headed to Hulaween!

Serotonic has been delivering funky jazz and jazzy funk every time out. They made lots of new fans at a pre-party before a Lightning game and more with their incendiary set opening for The Motet in August.

Dropin Pickup describes their genre as: ‘everything.’ Indie/alternative only starts to cover their wide range. Be sure to listen to them on WMNF 88.5 Tuesday night (Sept. 15) on In the Groove, starting at 10 PM (on air, online, or on archive — take your ‘pick’).

NoNeed has been making a splash of late with their reggae/rock/fusion/jam vibes, including an impressive set at the Keepin’ D Funky bash.

There are lots of DJs in the area playing a wide range of music, but nobody  brings the deep house, funk and jazz like DJ K Slat, who can turn a quiet gathering into a dance party in seconds flat.

The time schedule should be published soon. You can check here for updates. Did we mention Russ Bowers and Receptor Sound and Lights will be in the house?!
